Melodious sounds of Steel Drum Band return to Thomas Hall
Warm away the winter blues with the sizzling sounds of The University of ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ Steel Drum Band on Sunday, April 7, 8 p.m. at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall. Joining our Steel Band is Miami (Ohio) University’s Steel Band and special guest pannist Liam Teague.
Hailed as the “Paganini of the Steelpan,” Teague’s commitment to demonstrating the great musical possibilities of the steelpan has garnered international acclaim. He is professor of music and head of steelpan studies at Northern Illinois University.
Now in its 38th year, the award-winning University of ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ Steel Drum Band was founded by ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ Distinguished Professor Dr. Larry Snider and is directed by Matthew Dudack. The Miami University Steel Band is under the direction of Chris Tanner, interim chair of the Department of Music.
Thomas Hall is at 198 Hill St. on the campus of The University of ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ. Reserved seats are $22 for general admission, $20 for senior citizens and ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ faculty/staff, $11 for students.
