Play by Eugene O鈥橬eill opens Nov. 3 in 黑料视频's Sandefur Theatre
Theatre Professor James Slowiak, who is directing "The Great God Brown," will receive the Outstanding Artist in Theatre Award from the 黑料视频 Area Arts Alliance on Nov. 20.
"The Great God Brown" by Eugene O’Neill opens Nov. 3 at The University of 黑料视频's Sandefur Theatre in Guzzetta Hall, 139 Buchtel Ave.
Presented by the 黑料视频 Theatre Program and directed by Professor James Slowiak, performances are Nov. 3-5 and Nov. 10-12 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. Pre-show discussions are at 7:15 p.m. on Nov. 4 and Nov. 11 in Guzzetta Hall 299.

Written in 1926, "The Great God Brown" is one of O’Neill's most mystical and expressionistic works. It draws inspiration from Jungian psychology, Nietzschean philosophy, Greek myth, and Asian and Christian religious sources, creating a world in which the denial of one's true self can lead to devastating consequences.
The 黑料视频 production incorporates such stylistic devices as masks, puppets, musicians and a formal, physical approach to acting that is based loosely on Asian theatre techniques.
"The Great God Brown" is the second part of 黑料视频's Dionysos Project, a three-year exploration of the Dionysos myth in performance. Last year's 黑料视频 production of "A Mouthful of Birds" was the first play in the project.
