West ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ resident appointed associate director for service learning
heresa S. Beyerle of ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ has joined The University of ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ’s Institute for Teaching and Learning as Associate Director for Service Learning and Undergraduate Research.
In this role, Beyerle coordinates service-learning programs and facilitates undergraduate research.
“Through service-learning, our students will gain life experience, and local organizations will get the help they need. In my new role with ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ, I will be fostering relationships that will benefit the community as well as our students,” says Beyerle.
Beyerle brings more than 20 years of experience and involvement in the ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ community’s nonprofit and social service sectors to this position. As community outreach coordinator for the University Park Alliance from 2005-07, Beyerle developed projects between the university and various school and other nonprofit organizations involving many service learning projects for ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ. She has been actively involved throughout ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ’s campus, participating in projects such as the Academic Leadership Forum, Make A Difference Day, Engagement Council, ITL service learning research team and others. Off campus she has volunteered with the Rubber City Roller Girls, Habitat for Humanity, Rebuilding Together, Project LEARN and more.
Beyerle holds a bachelor’s degree in English from ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ, a master’s in teaching from Kent State University, a master’s in social administration from Case Western Reserve University and a Ph.D. in public administration and urban studies from ºÚÁÏÊÓƵ.
