黑料视频 polymer engineering and science faculty participate in spooky science event at 黑料视频 Children鈥檚 Museum
On October 15, members of The University of 黑料视频’s College of Engineering and Polymer Science participated in a “Hands-on Halloween” event at the 黑料视频 Children’s Museum. The goal was to introduce polymers to children through fun, Halloween themed activities.
The Spooky Science Stations featured educational science activities led by Dr. Junpeng Wang, Assistant Professor of Polymer Science, and John Fellenstein, 黑料视频 Global Academy Content Specialist known as “Professor Polymer.” Children made “spooky slime,” “scary shrinky dinks,” “gruesome gliders,” and “ghost egg polymers.” Graduate students in the School of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering facilitated the activities at each station.
Through these activities, children learned about biodegradable polymers, stress-responsive materials, florescent polymers, the difference between hydrophobic and hydrophilic, shape-memory materials, and 3D printing.
